タイトル：”Phytomonitoring Technology for Whole Plant and Transgenic Tissue “ （植物個体用モニタリング技術と遺伝子組み換え組織）

内容：You can't improve if you can't measure. To improve plant production in precision agriculture, real-time monitoring of individual plants is desirable for timely control actions to assure high quality production and reduce production waste. The seminar will provide an overview of controlled environment agriculture research programs at FABE/OSU with more in-depth information in the area of plant well being monitoring. Several phytomonitoring technologies, including machine vision, infrared thermometry, and multispectral imaging, will be introduced for early plant drought stress detection, transgenic promoter analysis using GFP (green fluorescent protein), and transient photosynthesis assessment. Plant movement, canopy temperature, and plant water status are monitored for plant water status determination. GFP expression is quantified to evaluate promoters for desired traits for transgenic plant production. A system has been developed for rapid photosynthesis measurement that allows a better understanding of transient photosynthesis dynamics during a day and opportunities to improve plant growth by taking appropriate control actions accordingly.
